Students are constantly being bombarded with IT in their lives. They come to school as digital natives and we are their immigrants. We need to teach and learn using these tools, as they are using them anyway. We need to guide them through this shift in education, or we will have a group of unmotivated, disengaged youth. Last year I was ranked as the third most active member on TakingITGlobal. It always gives me a reason to go back and to continue exploring and contributing to the community. One of my proudest achievements is having my “Npower,” be an inspiration to many other projects now tagged under the “Nigerian Dream.” I have begun to see TakingITGlobal as an academy of leaders-in-waiting and as the master key to the global village. The issue that really matters to me is giving a voice to the voiceless. This group includes the poor and the youthful youth. I became aware about this through my work as a journalist as most of the issues that are being covered by the media concern people that are already in the limelight and leave out the grassroots.
